GO GLOBAL GETS GOING

A new service operated by the private sector, for the private sector, has been launched to secure business opportunities for Welsh firms in the emerging Chinese marketplace.

The Go Global Business Club has been created by Broomfield & Alexander, Wales’ largest independent accountancy firm, in a joint venture with XYZ Communications, a trade and investment consultancy specialising in Greater China.

The venture will also work with Chinese companies looking to invest in Wales, with consequent benefits for locally-based suppliers of goods and services.

Go Global is a member-only organisation offering introductions, advice on market entry, networking opportunities, serviced offices and a range of professional services to help companies grow their businesses through international investment or trade.  Go Global aims to complement the work of International Business Wales and to add value to their existing support programmes.

The Go Global partners have extensive experience of helping UK companies secure business in China and helping Far Eastern operations set up successfully in Wales.

They supported Bridgend-based MorrisLine Engineering Limited when it wanted to set up a joint venture in the Sichuan province to establish a foothold in the Chinese market, and introduced the Singapore owned and operated company  Megachem UK Ltd into Newport, advising them on IT systems, software and accountancy issues.

“Today’s businesses need to think globally, whether it is outsourcing or finding new markets and customers, and we’re very excited to have developed this new Go Global brand for Wales with XYZ Communications,” said Broomfield & Alexander’s International Director, Mark Jones. “We have a number of enquiries from Chinese companies looking to establish a base in Wales either through a new start up or through acquisition of an existing business.”

Shelley Zhu, director of XYZ Communications, said that doing business in a totally different language and environment was not easy.  “There are also cultural and practical differences as well as local legislation, all of which can be a barrier for a business to succeed in a foreign country,” she said.

“Through Go Global, members can research the market, identify contacts, make introductions and establish the business in China. We can help our members access trading opportunities with Chinese companies and develop potential joint venture partnerships. We can offer a full start-to-finish service which will get businesses up and running in China in the shortest possible time”

Mark Jones and Shelley Zhu celebrate the launch of the Go Global Business Club.
